What an air show!!!!
I attended the annual Zwartkops AFB air show with a good friend of mine as previously mentioned in the last post.
We got to the base at 07H00 and were lucky to find a open spot near the main stand.
the show got off to a very good start and there so many planes to photograph that I will never be able to list all of them here.
There were fly over’s from the new 737 800 to the Silver Falcons aerobatics team escorting a South African Airways 737 airbus.
The tight turns that were performed by the airbus were gob smacking.
If there were any passengers on that flight they would have had to make sure their trays were in the upright position as their stomachs might not have been.
I was feeling like a child when I saw the Rooivalk attack helicopter for the first time ever.
The AFB had a mini war demonstration on the base with everything from the Flossy C130 dropping crates with parachutes and paratroopers dropping from the sky.
There were explosions that created an instant outburst of tears as all the kids started to cry.
Smoke, explosions and soldiers being airlifted into the SAAF Puma’s and gun fights with the Rooikat and tanks, wow is all I can say.
To top it all off I saw for the first time a P51 Mustang in full cry over the skies. This was every boys dream air show.
Cant wait for the next air show!! Hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed the show.
Well done Zwartkops !!!
